Inspired by Irma la Douce starring Shirley MacLaine, this sexy garter skirt is slinky, smooth and elegant. Satiny to the touch, it has two sinful little slits on the sides, adorned with two adorable satin bows on the edges. The bottom has a really sweet, see-through ruffle that shimmers when you move.
Here's the kickers, ladies, it's a pure skirt… there
is no built-in thong underneath to get you trapped,
so it's perfect for striptease, wearing under a
skirt, over a pair of jeans or, if you're daring,
as a skirt all by itself. Flirty and sophisticated,
it's perfect for when you're in the mood to take
yourself and your sensuality to a new level. Come
into the Studio boutique or visit www.sfactor.com
to pick one up now. You will love how sexy it makes
you feel! |

Sheila's
Music Pick
New York Girls, New York Style
by Sugar G
This song makes me smile. It's a kitschy little
ditty with a huge sense of humor. I love that about
a song — when it doesn't take itself too seriously.
This is not exactly a great song to 'S' to but it
raises our NY sisters up high and we like any song
that lifts the girls up.
New York , New York
by Ja Rule and Fat Joe
Well, you know I had to get a little hard
core on you. Otherwise, it wouldn't be quite me
writing to you lovely ladies of the world. Mr.
Ja has the most gravelly, domineering yet give-it-on-over-for-the-woman-in-his-life
kind of voice. Makes just about any woman swoon.
And he is crooning about the city that melts my
heart, so how could we go wrong?

MOVIE
CORNER
So,
I'm watching HBO late one night, couldn't sleep,
too much on my mind and this movie came on. My first
thought was, who is that actor? I love him! I obviously
don't watch much TV 'cause, apparently, he stars
on a show called 'Scrubs'. Zach Braff's impressive
directorial debut is a unique, sincere, art-house
film that is part dark comedy and part dark drama.
Zach plays Andrew Largeman, a moderately successful
actor, emotionally numbed by lithium, until the
death of his mother inspires a hiatus from the medication
and a trip home for the funeral. Shell-shocked to
find himself back in his hometown after nine years,
Andrew finds himself avoiding his bitter father
(Ian Holm) and running into old friends living mediocre
lives as gravediggers (including the amazing Peter
Sarsgaard) and fast food warriors. By a twist of
fate, he meets Sam (Natalie Portman), the antithesis
of Andrew himself. Full of color, quirks and fearlessness
(and demons of her own), Sam helps Andrew to open
his heart and embrace life and love and all the
joy and pain that goes along with it. She basically
brings him back to life
(leave it to a woman!). Character-driven, filled
with lively dialogue and an innovative plot, Garden
State will remind you about fate, love
and hope.

S FACTOR BOOK CLUB
The Catcher in the Rye
I make a yearly date with this book. Even if it's just to leaf through and find my favorite sections. In fact, when I was a young, struggling actress I used the opening five paragraphs as a monologue for auditions. I was able to do that because this book crosses the boundaries of class, sex and age. Anyone can be Holden Caulfield, and everyone has a little Holden in them.
If you've read it, read it again. If you skipped
this 1951 classic during your academic career,
you missed a brilliant gem of a coming-of-age
novel that is like no other and it's time to pick
it up. J.D. Salinger's Catcher in the
Rye tells the story of Holden Caulfield,
a disillusioned, 16-year-old student who narrates
a brief, life-changing stay in New York City after
he's been expelled from prep school. Filled with
wry observations of the people he encounters -
Holden's words truly convey the eternal teenage
experienc e
of angst and alienation. Holden, whose past has
been traumatic, wishes to preserve something of
childhood innocence that gets hopelessly lost
as we grow into "phony" adults.
The theme of lost innocence is deftly explored, and Holden Caulfield is one of the most developed characters in literary history. The Catcher in the Rye is a book that can be read and understood on multiple levels. It is dark, deep and contains slang that sounds hip and edgy even today. A work of true genius, you will walk away from this book with a fresh take on your own life. |

Ode to New York City
New
York City and me? We got a thing going on. You could almost
say I am in love with New York City, the 'big apple', Le Grande
Pomme. It has always felt like the center of the world to me.
It has a pulsing, throbbing energy like no other city I have
ever been to. Just the constant contact with people, the pace,
the pulse… oh, New York City has such a pulse. It is
just ripe and overflowing with opportunity. The city perfectly
epitomizes life itself. That's why it is such a perfect place
for us to open our first S Factor on the East Coast. In fact,
opening a studio in Manhattan has been a dream of mine since
I started teaching six years ago. When I do the 'S', it makes
me feel so alive and raw and physical - it's the same feeling
I get when I walk down the streets of Manhattan.
The name Manhattan is said to mean either "hilly island" (not so romantic) or possibly "place of intoxication." I like that - a place of intoxication, because the city is exactly that - intoxicating. The crisp air, the ubiquitous and immense beauty, the people from such diverse cultures and backgrounds. It is the perfect microcosm of what America represents - a true, cosmopolitan melting pot, filled with opportunities and fresh starts. It's the same type of dream I have for the S Factor - a place for women from different backgrounds to come and express themselves and create new outlooks for their lives.
The diversity the island of Manhattan boasts is simply unparalleled
- it's its own mini-world. From Greenwich Village, the Lower
East Side, Murray Hill and Soho/Tribeca to the Upper East
and West sides, Harlem and Wall Street, there's something
and somewhere for everyone. We're opening our first East Coast
'S' in luscious Chelsea - so let's talk about this incredible
area for a second.
Chelsea deserves an ode of its own - in the past decade, it has evolved into a burgeoning haven for artists and photographers and filmmakers. Bordered by Hell's Kitchen, Midtown West and the West Village, it can be accessed from just about anywhere in the city. In fact, if you're trying to get there, you can take t he A, C, E line to 34th or 23rd Streets; the 1, 2, 3, 9 line to 34th, 28th, or 23rd Streets; the B, D, F, N, Q, R, V, or W train to 34th Street; or the F or V train to 28th Street. How's that for some 411?
Chelsea's metamorphosis has resulted in its reputation as
an artsy, trendsetting community. Filled with culture and
history, there's lots of dancing and acting studios, great
restaurants, boutiques, and many cool things to do. It's home
to the Flatiron Building, one of New York's famous skyscrapers,
named so due to its triangular shape which resembles a flat
iron. It was never the tallest NYC skyscraper, but it was
the first building to become a romantic symbol in New York.
(Fun tidbit: it was featured in both Spider Man 1 and 2 as
the headquarters of Peter Parker's employer, the Daily Bugle).
Then there's Chelsea Piers, once a rundown and neglected waterfront,
now a magnificent row of buildings with an open park where
you can bowl, golf, horseback ride, roller skate, go to the
movies or visit the Spa. Let's not forget the famous Chelsea
Hotel, where oh-so-many artists, writers, actors and filmmakers
have lived and created. It's directly across from Chelsea's
newest addition, the S Factor NY, where women can be inspired
by both their bodies and their surroundings. Complete, utter
bliss! We couldn't have picked a more perfect area to create
this much needed sanctuary.
There
is just so much to see and do and experience, no wonder the
city has such a rapid pace. Thus, our inspiration to open Sheila
Kelley's S Factor NY. To provide a place of respite to
help our city girls relax and rejuvenate, so they can go back
into the city with full force. I am counting the days until
February 27th. Hope to see you all there.
All my love and respect,
G-SPOT
Skirting
the Issue
This exercise is an adventure like no other. The next time
you go to a classy cocktail party or dress-up event, how about
wearing a skirt with nothing on underneath? You'll be
harnessing a private secret that will make you feel powerful
and vulnerable at the same time - the ultimate dichotomy!
You will feel so sexy and daring and fearless - you'll
have this inner glow and people will wonder wear it's
coming from. Just make sure that the skirt you're wearing
isn't too short or revealing - wouldn't
want to give away the secret. Of course, if you do this on
a date, you will have an extra cockiness in your attitude
that will just tantalize the you-know-what out of your partner.
Try it… you will be shocked at how playful and delicious
your entire night will be.
If the idea of going out of the house with no undies on is
too much for you shy-er women, then spend a Saturday afternoon
at home with no skivvies on and your favorite skirt. Do the
dishes, wash some laundry and even try some gardening -
or any other weekend home work you need to do. Just feel the
world against you in a new and interesting light of day!

BODY
CONSCIOUS - Writhing Goddess |
This is a delicious move… it takes the Goddess a step further, both physically and sensually. To get the fullest stretch and the most beauty out of this one, imagine you've got a big pillow under your shoulder blades.
- Lie on your back with your feet lengthened and your arms bent up and out to the side.
- Arch your back and push your chest up toward the ceiling, coming up onto the top of your head. Bend both knees at slightly different angles so that your right knee is a bit higher than the left.
- Keeping your feet lengthened, slowly switch the positions of your feet so that your left knee is higher than the right.
- Keeping your motion continuous, switch your feet again as you bring your hands up onto your torso.
- Continue to move your feet back and forth. Run your hands slowly and deliberately up and down your torso as you writhe. Remember to breathe and keep your abdominal muscles engaged.
*Beginner's modification: Come up onto your shoulders with your back arched, keeping your head flat on the floor.

Love Letter from an S Girl
Check out this letter from our beautiful S Factor student, Dyanne DiRosario.
Dear Sheila:
Loss brought me to the S Factor. I lost my beautiful Mommy to a HORRIBLE bout with Lung Cancer (please, please, PLEASE don't smoke- it is a horrible, debilitating death!!!!) I was carrying twin babies and lost one which made my pregnancy a scary high-risk affair.
My best friend of 25 years decided to ditch me during all this (LOOOONG story). Three days before I gave birth, I turned 40 years old- I felt fat, ugly, angry, sad, and exhausted. I had a great husband and two beautiful sons, but I felt completely disconnected from my sexuality, my femininity and myself.
Then a friend told me to come and check out S Factor. I LOVED
the intro class. I thought, here's a place I can be beautiful
and sexy again." Plus, I adored the brain massage - that
should be taught to everyone everywhere!!!! I can be a woman
here - not a mommy, not a wife, but that part of me that was
buried under so much "good girl crap" - I thought
she was lost.
I relished the feeling of touching myself. It was more than
just touch. It was that feeling you get when you look in the
eyes of the man you LOVE, as you make love. I was caressing
and seeing parts of myself I have literally never looked at...NEVER
LOOKED AT IN ALL MY 40 + YEARS!
I remember walking outside of a Target and a group of teenage boys dismissed me. I certainly didn't want anything from them, but to be so out of the loop- to be found wanting by these babies just felt powerless. I didn't want them, but I wanted to not be found ...so wanting.
Now, I have a delicious secret. My secret: I have power! The
power to find my curves beautiful, the power to love even
that part of my belly that's all stretched out from having
BIG babies - I have no doubt that I am the hottest thing going.
I see this power starting to change other areas of my life. I'm not content with what I once was. I've stopped saying sorry for every thing that goes wrong in life unless it is truly my fault. My husband and I treat each other more like lovers again (married 10 years-thank you!) and when I leave class, I am exhausted yet exhilarated, open and vulnerable to the world. I revel in that power too.
Funny side note: I had worked with my husband to TRY and get some exercise into my life w/ babies and a business and well...LIFE - it just never happened. But when I told my husband I was taking a pole dancing class, those annoyances seemed to disappear! My husband kicks me out the door on the mornings of class.
So loss brought me here and now I've lost a couple other things too.
Lost- feeling ugly, even when I'm premenstrual! Teri taught me to soothe my body with my own touch.
Lost- 38 f-ing pounds!!!
Lost- Judging other women's bodies. Really everyone looks gorgeous when they do the S.
Lost- the TV show about those people on the island.... This has nothing to do with the S. I just like the show : )
Plus, I think I'm the only pole dancing minister in the world - and I LOVE the dichotomy of that!
Thank you for inventing and shaping the "S".
Thank you for creating and recreating this safe haven.
Thank you for affecting so many women's lives in a profound way.
May you receive your kindness back threefold...you Goddess, you.
Much love and respect,
Dyanne DiRosario
(Level 6 - though I can't get that stupid helicopter… yet)
